Description

This delicious brioche bread pudding is made with apples and a creamy custard for a delightful dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf brioche bread, cut into cubes
  • 3 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, divided
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread the cubed brioche evenly inside.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons butter. Add sliced apples, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Cook for 5–7 minutes until slightly softened. Remove from heat.
  3. Spread the warm apple mixture evenly over the bread cubes.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together 6 eggs, 2 cups milk, 1/2 cup heavy cream, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, and 1/4 teaspoon salt until smooth.
  5. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread and apples. Press the bread gently so it absorbs the liquid.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
  8. Cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
