Ingredients

- 1 cup white granulated sugar or light brown sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup milk (whole, 2%, vitamin D, or almond)
- ⅓ cup vegetable oil
- 1½ cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet, milk, or dark)
Instructions
- Prepare the Oven and Pan
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Grease a 1-pound loaf pan thoroughly. - Mix Dry Ingredients
Whisk sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. - Combine Wet Ingredients
Beat egg, milk, and oil until smooth. - Make the Batter
Stir dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined. - Add Chocolate Chips
Fold in chocolate chips, reserving ¼ cup for topping. - Bake
Pour batter into pan (⅔ full).
Top with remaining chocolate chips.
Bake 50–60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. - Cool and Slice
Cool 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider using dark chocolate chips.
- This loaf can be stored at room temperature for up to four days.
- Freeze for longer storage; slice before freezing for easy access.
