Description

A deliciously roasted whole chicken infused with the sweetness of fresh oranges and aromatic herbs, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole Chicken
  • 2 cups Fresh Oranges
  • 1/4 cup Honey
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Herbs (thyme, rosemary)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). This creates the perfect environment for cooking the chicken evenly and allows the glaze to caramelize beautifully.
  2. Combine the marinade by whisking together fresh orange juice, honey, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and your choice of herbs in a bowl. This mixture adds that delightful zesty flavor!
  3. Place the whole chicken in a roasting pan and generously pour the marinade over it, ensuring it’s well coated inside and out to lock in all that delicious flavor.
  4. Roast the chicken for approximately 1 hour, basting it occasionally with the marinade. Look for the skin to turn golden brown and crispy, signifying it’s ready to serve.
  5. Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer; it should register at 165°F (75°C) to ensure it’s perfectly cooked and safe to eat.
  6. Rest the chicken for about 10 minutes before carving. This step allows the juices to redistribute for moist, tender meat that your family will love.

Notes

  • Consider using chicken thighs for an alternative that cooks faster.
  • Maple syrup can be used as a substitute for honey.
  • Shallots can be an alternative to garlic.
  • Avocado oil can be used as a substitute for olive oil.
  • Fresh herbs are preferred for the best flavor, but dried can be used in lesser amounts.
