Description
This herbed butter is a delightful addition to your favorite meats, vegetables, or breads.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh chives finely sliced
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon honey optional
Instructions
- Let the unsalted butter sit at room temperature until very soft but not melted, so it’s easy to mash and stir.
- Finely chop the fresh parsley, chives, and dill, then mince the garlic and zest the lemon before juicing it.
- Add the softened butter to a medium bowl, then add the parsley, chives, dill, garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, smoked paprika, crushed red pepper flakes, kosher salt, black pepper, and honey if using.
- Use a spatula or wooden spoon to mash and stir everything together until the herbs and seasonings are evenly distributed and the butter looks well speckled.
- Lay a sheet of parchment paper or plastic wrap on your work surface and scrape the butter mixture into a rough log down the center.
- Roll the parchment around the butter, smoothing and tightening as you go to form an even cylinder, then twist the ends to seal.
- Chill the butter log in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours, or until very firm; for faster setting, place it in the freezer for about 30 minutes.
- When ready to serve, unwrap the log and slice it into thick coins, placing a piece or two over hot steak, chicken, seafood, vegetables, baked potatoes, or warm bread so it melts into a sauce.
Notes
- This herbed butter can enhance the flavor of steaks and seafood greatly.
